Fed up with merely cross-promoting summer 20th Century Fox films with five or ten minute extended trailers, FOX is giving "Alien vs. Predator" a full half-hour to make its case to the American people on Thursday, Aug. 12. Then, continuing with its evening theme of ultimate confrontations, FOX will present an encore of the immortal "Celebrity Boxing 2."

To paraphrase the "Aliens vs. Predator" poster, whoever wins on that Thursday night, we all lose.

The "Aliens vs. Predator" special will be a half-hour commercial for the summer release which, as the title indicates, pits the villains of the "Alien" and "Predator" franchises against each other with a group of C-list humans stuck in the middle.

And speaking of C-list humans, fans of FOX's grotesque "Celebrity Boxing" specials may remember the winners, but everybody else will get to gawk anew over showdowns between Ron "Horshack" Palillo and Dustin "Screech" Diamond and Manute Bol and William "Refrigerator" Perry. Also featured are Olympic gymnast Olga Korbut vs. Darva Konger ("Who Wants to Marry A Millionaire") and wrestler Joanie "Chyna" Laurer vs. Joey Buttafuoco.
